Short Message at Darwen (UK)
Gandhi, on his way to visit the textile mills at Darwen, Lancashire (UK), by being asked to give a short message to the people, said in October 1931:
Journalist: "He would just like to say a few words."
Gandhi: "You are going to tell the other children that I love you all as my own children. That's all I want to say. Finished, I finished my speech."
Journalist: "You have. (laughter) . . . that he loves all the children of the world."
Gandhi: "He didn't say that. (laughter) I say: But I love you all the children as my own."
Farewell from France
By leaving France for Switzerland Gandhi said on December 6, 1931:
"I carry with me the pleasantest recollection of many happy friendships…."
